BITE
Big Issues of Today Explored
Where are all the young people in the church today?
Is that a question you have heard or asked yourself recently?
If you have browsed this site you cannot help feeling encouraged by what the young people are involved in within EMC, what with
OTOH (puppets in children’s outreach),
Computer
Group and
N:Gage; and what may surprise you even more is that’s not all!
BITE is a group that was started in September 2003 to meet the needs of our older teenagers. Many had been regular at Junior Church, have attended Holiday Bible Club for many years, some had been
through membership classes in the summer and seemed to be looking for a group, where they could relax, be with friends, chat and ask the questions that are important to them. After a bit of discussion we came up with the idea of meeting monthly in somebody’s house starting off with a session thinking about the media and how it influences our lives.
So we did it!
So back to my original question, where are all the young people in the church today?
They’re in small groups using puppets in children’s outreach, working with computers to input into EMC’s
computer club's website and prepare worship resources, and last but not least sitting around eating and drinking and thinking about what it means to be a Christian in their culture.
So will you join us in giving thanks for what God is doing in these groups, what He is doing in the lives of the young people, and to pray that our young people will continue to grow in the love of God.
We would like to say a big thank you to those who have been so generous in their hospitality, and thank you to those who have willingly agreed to be invaded in the near future!
