TREFOIL GUILD

Have you ever heard of us? If you answered YES have you wondered who we are and what we do? We are people who have been members of Girl Guiding in any capacity and are still interested in helping in whatever way we can- assisting in Units, helping with fund raising-or people who are willing to uphold Guiding principles and make the Guide promise.

We meet monthly, usually the last Thursday of the month.

Epsom Division also has its own local campsite, Little Acres, which is available for use by any Girlguiding or Scout Association units on application. Our District uses the campsite throughout the year, ranging from small patrol camps to major Division events.

EMC Guide History

In 1914 the Church was built in Ashley Road this cost only £7,700 but in 1914 this was a significant amount, because of the large numbers of youth and all the activities, especially with Guides and Scouts, the Church hall was built in 1959, later in 1962, the transept was added, and in 1968, the front porch was made larger and 1984 the Church office and Ministers office was built in front of the Church hall. In 2007 the Church undertook a massive redevelopment at a cost of £1.6 millions which gave a larger worship area and a welcome area, the next stage is the Youth Hall to replace the obsolete scout hut, this is due to start  building in the next few years perhaps 2010 or sooner.

The Guides started at EMC in 1932 with the 11 th Company and a whole galaxy of Guiders have given immense amount of their time to this essential work, because of the Guide limitations on numbers per Company and the seventy plus girls wanting to be in the Guides at EMC another Company was formed the 7th. Both these companies always camped together and in 1979 had a camp of over 60 plus 12  leaders. In 1993 the two companies merged and became the 7 th they have been part of the Gangshow scene from way back, even to the extent that some of the current producers/backstage staff met and subsequently married after meeting as Scouts or Guides at a Gangshow, so cast be warned or should it read “be prepared”?
