Monday 21 - Friday 25 August 2000 was a success

173 Children aged 5 to 14 years  helped

save the world from certain destruction

In the beginning, God created the universe. He made man and woman to have power over the birds, the fish and all the animals. He blessed the man and the woman and said,

"Have many children so that your descendants will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. I am putting you in charge of the fish, the birds and all the wild animals".

God has given us a beautiful world, which we are slowly destroying through our greed and selfishness. As followers of God, we need to look after his World and all his creatures within it. Holiday Bible Club learnt how you can save the world through fun in the Creation Zone, the Labs and the Global Challenge.

HBC  opened from 10am to 12.30pm each morning. There was a big celebration service where we shared our fun with the whole Church family on Sunday 27 August.

118 willing helpers joined the fun?

There was a crèche and playgroup for helpers’ children aged less than 5 years.

Start of the day, we all come together for fun, laughter, singing, drama and of course worship of Jesus.

Then we break into age groups, named after animals that that are facing extinction or environmental zones, for a whole range of activities both inside and if the weather is kind, outside.

Hi, Those protective goggles will not be much help up there!

Down over your eyes please, they are most precious

Inside there are a vast range of workshops choices to suit all ages and skills, from cookery, painting, messy shell sticking, cutting, needle work, cardboard fun games, making toys from recyclable material, woodwork this year a bird box ( oh you lucky Epsom birds!).

An of course those smashing coffee/squash/tea breaks with scrumptious goodies to eat.

The background music to this page is from the theme song written with words by Mike Elbourne, another talented member of the EMC team.

Then those group slots covering the Science Lab, where we proved that God's creations were in sympathy with the world of knowledge and science. We used a wide variety of simple test with seeds growing under various condition, without light, with light but no water, in coldness and warmth, just to see the results. We found that we needed a combination of moisture, warmth and light for satisfactory growth and we know that God provides all three elements.

Those exciting Global Challenges, with games showing an environmental link or use of materials again rather than putting into the rubbish bin, for we were reminded all the week that every thing comes from somewhere and with a price tag of energy used. And we can play our part however small the saving. For the mighty oceans are indeed made up of tiny droplets of water.
